According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), it has been reported that at least 18 farmers have been hacked to death by unknown assailants at Dan-Anacha, Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State during the early hours of Sunday.

Mr. David Misal, the State Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and also reported that the casualty report and figure would soon be released by the police. It was also gathered that most of the victims who were farmers were killed on their farms.”˜Actually, I cannot lie to you, there are casualties but we will release the figures later after we might have finished combing the area. It was an undercover attack by some unidentified people in the area’, Mr. Misal said.He also said that a thorough search would be carried out by the police to seek out the perpetrators of the evil deed.The Acting Chairman of Concerned Tiv Youth Frontier, Mr. Dooior Torkula said that a total of 18 people were killed with 12 corpses recovered by the frontier in Dan-Anacha shortly after the attack, four were recovered from the Borno-Kruku road on the outskirts of Dan-Anacha and two from their farms. He also reported that 18 other people were badly injured during the attack.He alleged that the intruders broke into the homes of the victims and murdered them while they slept.Torkula also reported that peace had been restored to the area and police have been sent to guard the area so as to ensure peace and security.
