TOPIC: A SPIRITUAL MAN MINDS ONLY THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT
Meditation:
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.”(1 Peter 1:23)
Today’s text: 1 Peter 1:13-23:
We are born again through the instrumentality of the Holy Ghost, not by the act of man. When a woman conceives, it is by the act of man and the seed is corruptible.
With the Holy Spirit there is no sin, no unrighteousness. We are born again by the word of God and sealed by the Spirit of God. This is why the spiritual man minds the things of the Spirit and not the things of the flesh. He has passion for the things of God. The change is radical; from the natural to the spiritual.
The natural man minds things of the flesh. Romans 8:5-6: “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit do mind the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” What one is so crazy about is an indication of who he is. It tells whether he or she is led by the Spirit or by the flesh. One’s attitude to the things of this world makes the difference between a carnal, natural and spiritual man.
When anything happens and one cannot connect to the Spirit immediately, such is not far from a natural man. A spiritual man is usually composed, organized and does not engage in things that are carnal. He is not moved by the flesh. He says like Paul, “None of these things move me.”
My driver took me to two distant cities on condolence to two of my people. On our way back, a vehicle veered off and ran into us at top speed. My car was badly damaged.
In a society where the insurance is of little use, the guilty party usually suffers loss. He takes care of all damages. I didn’t look back for one second. As a crowd gathered, I signaled my driver and we drove off.
When your spouse loses money or property, even carelessly, and you are ready to crucify her, denying her affection and care, examine yourself again because you are carnal. An incident occurs and you bemoan yourself for days, even weeks.
Your attitude makes you spiritual or carnal. An insignificant thing happens and you are so overwhelmed that neighbours come on condolence, you are only natural.
A spiritual man minds the things of the Spirit. It may be painful but sorrow avails no solution. A spiritual man will move on and think of remedies. I didn’t bemoan myself that I ran into an accident that could have cost my life visiting with people.
I put it behind me because I know what it means to be spiritual. The presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of any shows he is a child of God.
Prayers:
1.Thank God for the new birth.
2.Pray for the enabling power to always mind the things of the Spirit.
Confession:
Heavenly Lord, I am glad that I belong to this generation that is born of the Spirit and carries the trinity within. I will continually live in this revelation in Jesus’s name, amen.
