Woman imprisoned for bewitching daughter’s friend

Adewumi Sanusi, a 62 year old businesswoman allegedly accused of bewitching her daughter’s friend with a substance given to him to drink appeared before the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday. She is reportedly facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and trial by ordeal.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Joseph Ajebe told the court that she conspired with one Alfa Oso who has currently fled to commit the deed. Ajebe said the defendant claimed the complainant; Mbanude Ogochukwu stole her daughter’s laptop from the shop while on a visit. Thus, leading the defendant to consult Alfa Oso who procured for her some incantations which she mixed in water and forced Ogochukwu to drink it.Ogochukwu immediately ran mad after drinking the water and she has refused to revert him back to sanity, hence, the report,The case was reported to the police by Joel Chiemeka, a nephew to Ogochukwu. Chief Magistrate Alexander Komolafe has adjourned the case until January 18, 2017 for hearing.
