It is no longer news that women all over the world are breaking grounds, despite the societal challenges, which tend to limit and dilute their focus and aspirations. Most women have had their dreams relegated to the background due to societal n orms, which attribute certain traits and expectations on the women folk. Notwithstanding, one of the women in leadership, Odunayo Eweniyi, in her statement on women’s ability to lead, asserts that “Women don’t have any issues with leadership, the rest of the world does”. Women are thriving in leadership positions
Women obviously, have continued to prove to the world that they have all it takes to attain whatever position they so desire. The likes of Ibukun Awosika, the group CEO of The Chair Centre Group, and Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria, Mo Abudu, the Managing Director of Ebonylife TV, Kofo Akinkugbe of the Secure ID and Interface Technologies, and Oke Maduewesi, Founder and Managing Director of Zaron Cosmetics, to mention but a few women in the news, have all continued to put the world on the contrary of their assertion about women’s ability to lead, perform excellently, and effectively in any field of human endeavour, including STEM.
If you as a woman, wished and aspired to break grounds, then you should never feel discouraged by societal factors and norms. If these couldn’t limit the women stated above, then there is nothing stopping you from making commendable exploits except you.
If the women above could come up with various innovations in their different fields of expertise, to the extent of proffering viable solutions to pivotal societal needs, despite the glaring challenges, then what is stopping you from following suit?
The world, rather than put limitless constrains on the ability of women, should put in more efforts towards supporting them in the course of their various career adventures.
Women truly don’t have any issues with leadership; the rest of the world does.
