The Director of Policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Moses Tule has revealed the persistence of the ongoing recession as a result of wrongful approach by non-professionals who confronted it using the wrong tools.
In a roundtable meeting organized at Abuja to discuss solutions to the present recession in the country, the CBN chief talked about how the wrong people were given the wrong departments to handle.”˜Some came in as doctors into the macro-economic management and are given the tools of medical doctors to advise on how to solve the problem of recession’.Earlier last year, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) warned the nation of eventual recession if urgent steps were not taken to avoid it but all warnings were unheeded to. He also lamented about Nigerians’ love for imported goods and lack of export culture.
