Yahya defeated in Gambia election

Image result for President of The Gambia, Yahya JammehLong time President of The Gambia, Yahya Jammeh, has been displaced by Adamma Barrow in the just concluded elections which held on Thursday.Jammeh who began ruling The Gambia since 1994 as a military officer, had ruled the country for 22 years.The Ex-military officer once boasted about ruling the country for “a billion years, if Allah willed it.”Adamma Barrow who won the election with 50,000 votes ahead his opposition criticized the lack of a two-term limit on the Presidency, promising to introduce a 3-year transitional government “if he wins”High population of voters voted against a continuation of Jammeh’s presidency for reasons cutting across repression and false promises.The election of Adama promises hope to the little population of the West African Country.Announcing his victory in the state’s capital on Friday, electoral commission chief, Alieu Momar Njiehe appealed for calm as the nation plunges into untested waters.
