Youths Storm Kano to Demand Release of Shiite Leader, El-Zakzaki

Hundreds of Shiite faithfuls stormed the streets of Kano yesterday, spending over four hours protesting the continued detention of their leader Shiekh Zakzaky. The youths, including young women wearing black attires with some dressed in more Western clothing, took to the streets of Kano protesting the killings and detention of the Shiites by the authorities. The leader of the protesting Shiite youths, Malam Mansur Ukashatu, said they have decided to protest over the inability of the Federal Government to release their leader. The protesters began their march at Fagge mosque and walked down Zaria road. The march concluded peacefully at the Dangi Junction roundabout.
