Success is not an event, or a result in isolation. It is an expression of the best that is within you. It is doing something or becoming something that expresses your full personality and abilities in the noblest way. Although we have a mental picture of success as striving hard towards perfection, in truth, it is more natural.Success is inclusive. It is, however, attained only by those who go beyond the limit. This is the reason for the similitude of the experiences of successful people. They took the seemingly dangerous path to let out the dreams and potentialities deposited in them. Success is not the creation of any man, but the sum of the choices he has made. Hence, without exception, everyone can be successful or be the best one can be; what matters is the choice.If you have the desire to succeed, here are 10 attributes of successful people you should cultivate. The following is not exhaustive, but it may whet your appetite to discover for yourself some of the principles of success.
  1. Optimism
It is not fable that positive people achieve more without stress. Life offers nothing to those who don’t believe in their worth for living. Optimism is power; it energizes and quickens the soul to push on and overcome challenges. Nelson Mandela, Ernest Shackleton, Eleanor Roosevelt, among others, admitted that what got them through tough times was an ability to focus on the positive. Even when there was nothing to believe in, they believed anyway. They faced up to stark reality.Tom Butler Bowdon wrote, “Optimistic people tend to believe not simply because they believed that everything will turn out right, but because the expectation of success makes them work harder.” If you expect little, you will to be motivated even to try.
  1. A defined purpose or vision
Successful people don’t shoot aimlessly. They are on a mission. They have a target. Don’t waste your strength over many things such that you are outstanding in none. Success is not about the many tasks performed, but the task completed. So, concentrate your energy, and be the master in whatever you do.
  1. Diligence
With hard work you acquire knowledge about yourself that idleness never reveals. Successful people love to take the challenge. Success is who you are, work energizes your muscles to grow into it.Diligence sets a man high even in places he least expects. Idleness kills not only the soul, it strangles dreams.

An athlete who wishes to be victorious in a race is temperate in all things. You will never master, your chosen path for life until you master your body. It is called discipline. Daily give yourself orders and obey them. You have the power to rule over all things, including yourself: especially how you use your time.Great achievers know that while the universe is built by atoms, success is built by minutes; they are masters when it comes to their use of time. Discipline is a major difference between the sluggish and the industrious.
  1. A coordinated mind
This is another unique thing about successful people. They are always coordinated and composed. They have everything together always. Nothing lags. That’s quite amazing. Because they trust their intuition, which is usually right, they seem to enjoy more luck than others. They are problem solvers and solutions to the most challenging things.

Seth Godin said, “It is not an accident that successful people read more books.” Successful people derive their motivations from reading. Reading is the means of absorbing the clues of success. If you can read about the accomplishments of those you admire, you cannot help but lift your own sights.It is out of curiosity and willingness to learn that great men read. According to Dale Carnegie, the person who seeks growth “must soak and tan his mind constantly in the vats of literature.”
  1. Risk taking
Great things never come from comfort zones. Take risks in your life. If you win, you can lead, if you lose you can guide. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Be action oriented.
  1. Understand the power of expectation
Expectation has a way of attracting to you their material equivalent. Life corresponds much to the expectations you have of it, so think big, dream large. Keep your hope high.

Success is the ability to master the soul, and drive the fate. Successful people can turn the worst situation to their advantage. They need not compromise, they know how to make things work for the benefit of all.
  1. A balanced life
Achievements mean little if we are not a success as a person. The capacities to love, listen, and learn are vital for our own well-being, and without them it is difficult to have the fulfilling relationships that we need to both renew us and inspire achievement.
