24- hour curfew imposed on three local governments in Kaduna State

By Akinwande OnadekoThe Kaduna State government has enforced a 24-hour curfew to ensure the safety and protection of lives and properties in three local governments.

In a statement made by the Special Assistant to the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai on Media and Publicity, the local governments include Zangon-Kataf, Kaura and Jema’a.The statement also said that unlawful assemblies and processions were prohibited and the enforcement of the curfew was based on credible intelligence reports about risks to lives and property in the affected areas.Also, security agents have been deployed to arrest and prosecute individuals or groups which violate law and order.An emergency meeting was held in the state to procure solutions to threat to peace and order. The meeting was chaired by Gov. El-Rufai along with his Deputy, Barnabas Bala. Also in attendance was the State Commissioner of Police, Agyole Abeh and Director of DSS, Mohammed Wakili.Others in attendance include Brig. Gen. I. Isa, Commander, 1 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army, Rear Adm.T.T. Dakwat, Commandant Nigerian Navy School of Armament and AVM Bello Garba, Base Commander, Nigeria Air Force, Kaduna.
