Armed robbery: Middle Aged Man to Die by Hanging

The Ikeja High Court, presided over by Justice Atinuke Ipaye, on Wednesday, sentenced a middle aged man, Friday James, to death by hanging. The convict was convicted on a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and robbery. James was said to have committed the offence on February 17, 2012 around 3am at Ewegbemi Street, Meiran, Ajasa Command within Ikeja. According to the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, the convict robbed one Olanrewaju of her jewelleries worth N100, 000. He also inflicted injuries on the head and the hand of the husband of the victim through the use of machetes and guns. According to the prosecution, the offence is contrary to Section 297 of the Criminal law of Lagos State 2011, and Section 295 subsection 2 (a). The court found the convict guilty on the two-count charge and sentenced him to death by hanging.
