Illegal Immigrants Will Be Flushed Out of Nigeria- NIS

Indications are rife, that measures have been put in place, to flush out immigrants that are residing in the country illegally. Making this known at a press briefing on migration and border management issues in Nigeria on Friday in Abuja, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Martin Abeshe posited that the menace of illegal immigrants in the country is worrisome, just as he added that the service had arrested and deported a lot of culprits across the country. Abeshe said, “I am sure you have been hearing of arrests and deportation of these illegal migrants by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) from across the country. “We are up to the task; our officers in the various parts of the country are performing very well, that is why today there has been a drastic drop in the number of foreigners who commit crime and violence in the country. “We have also put in place additional measures to checkmate any foreigner that is here to disrupt the peace we are enjoying.” He also noted that the NIS was doing everything towards ensuring more efficiency in the production of international passports for Nigerians in line with international best practice. Oritsejafor Calls for Nigerians to Shun Violence, Pursue UnityThe President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, on Friday, charged Nigerians to shun violence and reject division in the country. Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, in a statement marking Good Friday, argued that sacrifice, love and humility must permeate the society. The clergy called for steadfastness and unwavering faith in God, the maker of all things at a time when Christians in certain parts of the country are plagued by insurgency. “This should be the watchword for all Christians in this season of sacrifice and forgiveness”, he said. “As greed, hatred and wickedness continue to dominate the affairs of some in our midst, goodwill ultimately prevails over evil. “As we join other faithfuls across the world to commemorate the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ on Good Friday, I enjoin all Christians to reflect on the lessons of the solemn celebration. “So, as you reflect on this solemn celebration, may we all be reminded of God’s plan for mankind which was fulfilled by Christ against all odds especially as it affects their lives.”
