Abuja Rail Operations to Begin Q4 2017- FCT Minister

By Correspondent

The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammed Musa Bello, has stated that come December 2017, the Abuja rail system would have commenced full operations. He made this known while receiving the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, who was on a working visit to the FCT Minister. Malam Bello further stated that his administration was focused on revolutionising the rail system such that those who owned private cars would find driving their cars unappealing as opposed to riding the trains. He also used the NNPC GMD’s visit as an opportunity to request that the creation of more Mega Filling stations be allocated to the FCT as opposed to the current allocation of one Mega Filling Station per senatorial district in the federation. The FCT Minister also stated that, siting mega filling stations in the area councils will definitely reduce pressure on the stations in the Federal Capital City. To lend credence to his request, he promised that he would provide good locations in the headquarters of the six Area Councils for the filling stations. Mallam Bello reiterated that FCT Administration is prepared to go into partnership with NNPC by giving befitting and strategic plots of land for the stations, as they are looking to gaining equity share in the business.
