Acting President Osinbajo mourns Prof Osotimehin

The death of the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA), Prof Babatunde Osotimehin, has been described a shock and sad one.This was the position of Nigeria’s Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.The 68-year-old former Minister of Health passed on Sunday and in the event of his death, Professor Osinbajo expressed his sympathy on behalf of the federal government and Nigerians to the family of the deceased.He said: “I also commiserate with the staff of the UNFPA and the entire UN system on the demise of a very remarkable international public servant, who served passionately, diligently and worked tirelessly at the global and national stages to reduce maternal mortality and promote universal access to reproductive health.”Â Late Professor Osotimehin has made great impact on the nation and on the international scene, in his capacity as a renowned medical practitioner, teacher, minister of health and a UN agent.Professor Osinbajo encouraged the family of the deceased to be comfortable in the life he has led and for which he would be celebrated and remembered.
