Following the apprehension last week of two Airforce cadets by the convoy of the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has said it would conduct an investigation into the incident, the moment the two cadets are handed over to it by the police.
The arrested cadets are: Peters Solomon and Abdullahi Fahad.
According to a statement issued through the Air Officer Commanding of the Logistics Command headquarters, Air Vice Marshal M.A. Muhammed, NAF promised to impose appropriate sanctions on the cadets after due investigations.
He said, “The leadership of the Nigerian Air Force will like to make it absolutely clear that the service does not condone this kind of behaviour. We clearly understand our responsibilities to the public, but as soon as the airmen are handed over to the force by the police, we shall conduct appropriate judicial process.”
The cadets were arrested in the Mile 12 area of the state, when they allegedly dehumanised an artisan, Dahiru Lawal, over alleged breaking the windscreen of a Chrysler Stratus car with Registration No. KRD 267 DV.
The cadets, who had claimed to be Airforce personnel attached to the Air Force Base in Ikeja, were said to have dumped Lawal into the boot of their car after dragging him on the ground for the said offence.
