By Correspondent

A 46-year old man, Eno Johnson, was yesterday arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Ikeja, over alleged fraud of obtaining a Volvo car XC 70, under the pretence of selling and remitting the proceed to the owner which he knew was false. The Defendant was further arraigned before Magistrate (Mrs) O. A. Olayinka, over alleged conversion of a sum to the tune of N1.2 million for his personal use, being property of one Fatima Nwandu. Johnson was said to have committed the alleged offence sometime in March 2015, at Surulere, Lagos State. The suspect is answering questions to a two-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence pressed against him by the police. However, when the charge was read to him, he pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuehi, while addressing the court noted that the offence is punishable under section 285 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011. The Magistrate granted him bail of N500,000 with two sureties who must have paid two years’ tax. The matter has been adjourned till March 28, 2016.
