Amazing tithe offering: Nigerians react

An unidentified man has reportedly offered N42 million tithe to a local Church in Makurdi Benue State.Media report revealed that the money was remitted to the UBA account of the NKST Church in Makurdi.Presiding pastor of the church, Dr. Frederick Ikyaan, disclaimed the report but the quarterly financial report of the Church from January to March has affirmed the huge amount paid. The report confirmed the payment, which was made in January to the Church’s account, from a single individual in the quarter release.The financial detail also showed the church’s financial report with an income of N56.2 million and an expenditure of N33.7 million.The church’s record showed that of the N44.6 million received in tithe sum, a single person was responsible for N42 million.The pastor, while reacting, said his earlier claim of innocence was as a result of accusation that the donor was an employee of the Benue State government.” I still stand by my words that the person that gave us that money is not an appointee of the state government. In fact, he does not even stay in Benue but is an indigene of the state.”He asserted that there is nothing bad about the donation and maintained that his Church is plain about it.However, the news of the huge tithe sum has generated mixed reactions in the state which is presently unable to pay worker’s salaries.The Church’s full name is ”˜Non go Kristu U Sudan hen Tiv’, which means the Church of Christ Amongst the Tiv.
