An Ile Ife Magistrate entertains burglary suit filed against erring landlord

An Ile Ife Magistrate Court in Osun State, Wednesday is attending to a case of a landlord, Adebayo Cosmos, who allegedly broke into his tenant’s room in his absence.The middle-aged man is brought forward with a three-count charge of conspiracy, housebreaking and forceful entry.The Prosecutor, Inspector Monday Ojiezele, intimated the court with the offences committed by the accused on April 7 at Parakin area of Ile Ife.He said the accused collaborated with an unnamed male to break into the apartment of Leke Babasanya, a tenant, and destroying the security lock with intent to commit felony.According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Sections 410, 411 (1), 451 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.Counsel to the accused, Mr Johnson Williams, pleaded with the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms, assuring that he would not escape being tried.Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode, while delivering his judgment, granted the bail plea in the sum of N50, 000 with a surety in like sum.Ijiyode remarked that the surety must be a resident within the court’s jurisdiction and must also provide two recent passport-size photographs.The case has been adjourned till May 24 for hearing.
