Hi ladies, at 2:32am, I got a mail from a lady who asked me if she should borrow her boyfriend the sum of #500,000. This type of situation is something I know a lot of ladies go through: They wonder if they should borrow their boyfriend such a huge amount of money or simply pretend  they don’t have. So, I have decided to share the mail and my response to you all, so that if there is someone facing a similar situation that person can take a clue from this.Please read on… Dear Nifemi,Please, I need your advice; should I borrow my boyfriend #500,000? The thing is my boyfriend recently got a scholarship to do his masters in Canada, but inorder to travel and the likes, he needs some money. He asked me if I could borrow him 500,000 naira and I lied that I don’t have such amount of money, but then he told me I should find someone to borrow the money from and give to him. Although, I have the money, I’m scared he maynot return it.Aso, if he travels out of the country, I may lose him to another girl, but I also feel guilty not borrowing him the money.Nifemi, what do you think I should do? However, to respond to your mail, I would first like you to answer these three questions:
  1. Do you love your boyfriend?
  2. Do you trust him?
  3. Do you feel comfortable borrowing him your money?
The answers to these questions are probably “No” because you wouldn’t be confused if you love and trust him. So, if I must tell you what to do, I would say don’t bother borrowing him the money, because it isobvious you are not comfortable with the idea.Also, I don’t like people asking others to borrow money on their behalf, (that is just personal though) and to me, I think it is selfish and uncalled for.In addition, there is this piece of advice I appreciate, which is: Don’t borrow someone money you can’t afford to lose. So if you can’t afford to lose the money, then don’t give it out.Similarly, on the issue of you being scared to lose your boyfriend to another girl in Canada, well that is a rational fear; but I would advise you talk to him about that and both of you should be on the same page.However, don’t mind my advice; what you should mind is doing the thing you feel is right, especially by your conscience and all will be well. Don’t forget to write to me again later on how things go.Bye for now stranger.Xoxo…Nifemi Adekunle
