Breaking: President Buhari sends new ministerial nominees to the Senate

President Muhammadu Buhari has recommended two new ministerial nominees for Senate confirmation. This was made known by a source close to the Senate that the letter detailing the names and portfolio of the nominees got to the Senate on Tuesday. The two nominees, according to the source, are from Kogi and Gombe state. It was also gathered that the Kogi nominee will be a replacement for the late Minister of State for Labour, Barr. James Ocholi while his counterpart from Gombe would occupy the vacant seat of former Minister for Environment Ms Amina Mohammed who is presently serving at the United Nations as a deputy Secretary General. Meanwhile, the list of ministerial nominees is coming when the Senate gave up for two weeks consideration of the request of President Buhari for the appointment of Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs). The decision by the Senate was necessitated by what it called a disregard for its resolutions. It criticized the president for being quiet on the rejection of Ibrahim Magu as chairman of the EFCC and allowing him remain in acting capacity. The senate maintained that the executive decision of allowing any appointee remain in acting capacity given the earlier rejection on two different occasions was wrong.
