Bribery Amongst Police Will Diminish- IGP

The head of the Nigerian Police Force, Solomon Arase, on Monday, made a vow, that all elements, capable of leading policemen into bribery and corruption, which has been bringing the force to disrepute in recent times, will be removed. The IGP, while addressing officers and men of the Abia State Police Command at the police headquarters, noted that the Nigerian Police Force should be one that Nigerians should be proud of. The police IGP added that every policeman in the country is expected to dress properly with a certain carriage while on duty, in order to elicit respect and confidence among the public. Arase said, “You are the ones who stand on the road to ensure security, stay late in the offices, tell me what don’t you do, there is every reason for you people to be catered for to discourage corruption and enthrone integrity in service.” The IGP advised policemen across the country to always analyse situations before taking action, so as to identify and differentiate between criminal and civil matters and handle them accordingly. Tariff Hike: Court throws out NERC’s Move to Frustrate CaseJustice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Monday threw out an application filed by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), seeking to stay proceedings in the suit on electricity tariff hike. The court took the decision because the motion is bereft of any merit. Justice Idris equally awarded a punitive cost of N10, 000 against NERC
