Budget 2016: Senate Queries Conflicting Figures, Budget Errors

The upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly, on Friday stated that it has observed conflicting figures and errors in this year’s budget proposal presented by the Ministry of Labour and Employment. It would be recalled that at a budget defence session with the Committee, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ilo Clement, gave conflicting figures, after he was faced with questions on discrepancies in the personnel cost of the budget, saying the mistake came from the National Planning’s template. However, the Senate insisted that the responsibility of the National Assembly is to scrutinise the proposed budget.
