Chelsea’s Roman Abramovich loses $534 Million in a Day

From bad to worse

It’s not been a great couple of months for Chelsea both domestically and in Europe but it just got a whole lot worse for owner Roman Abramovich.
The Blues have not got things going well  this season after so much expectation from last season’s title-winning campaign.
Having stormed the title with relative ease, you would have thought the side would have pushed on under Antonio Conte. That has been far from the case as the side are on the brink of missing out on Champions League football next year. Not only that, while Chelsea sit in fifth, Arsenal are attempting to overthrow them before the end of the season. That could even see them finish 6th in a season full of promise and that would not only anger Abramovich, it would force him into action.Though, Chelsea’s performances on the pitch isn’t the only thing that won’t be making him happy. Barcelona Chelsea Courtois

U.S sanctions

A report from the Moscow Times today has revealed that the Chelsea boss has lost $534 million in just 24 hours.Abramovich is just one of the 50 richest Russian businessmen who were hit with huge sanctions. This comes as the US sanctioned Russian businessmen, companies and government officials who were close to President Vladimir Putin as punishment for ‘meddling in the 2016 U.S. election and other “malign activity.”’ While it’s certain this will affect the Chelsea owner, it is unlikely that it will have a big effect on the club and their transfer plans this summer.
