Chelsea’s Roman Abramovich loses $534 Million in a Day
By James Hughes
From bad to worse
It’s not been a great couple of months for Chelsea both domestically and in Europe but it just got a whole lot worse for owner Roman Abramovich. The Blues have not got things going well this season after so much expectation from last season’s title-winning campaign.
U.S sanctions
A report from the Moscow Times today has revealed that the Chelsea boss has lost $534 million in just 24 hours.Abramovich is just one of the 50 richest Russian businessmen who were hit with huge sanctions. This comes as the US sanctioned Russian businessmen, companies and government officials who were close to President Vladimir Putin as punishment for ‘meddling in the 2016 U.S. election and other “malign activity.”’ While it’s certain this will affect the Chelsea owner, it is unlikely that it will have a big effect on the club and their transfer plans this summer. One that might get more press in the UK than in the US…
