By Cory
- Smoking: Smoking does a lot of damage to the lungs, namely lung cancer, etc. Excessive smoking quickens the occasions of lung disease in a habitual smoker, who could not have an idea of what danger he or she is causing himself or herself until the damage is eventually done.
- Excessive eating: Especially, the consumption of junks, as they are called results in storage of fats in the body: the blood vessels, heart, etc leading to obesity and other weight-related diseases. This is capable of shortening one’s life span.
- Exercise: People who do sedentary (in a seating position) work always tends to gain unhealthy weight, aside the fact that their body system do not burn off unwanted calories stored in the body over time. A good balance of work-rest-exercise, make for a favorable lifestyle helping to maintain a healthy living.
- Reading under strong light rays: Reading in the sun or an exposure to strong light from a lamp can damage the optic nerve of the eye resulting in eye problems. A soft light is recommended for reading and it should not be directed on the surface being read, so as to prevent strong and sharp reflections into the eye. The light should be kept at a distance where it does not put the eye under the pressure of straining the optic nerve.
- Irregular sleeping: It is required that a normal rest period is eight hours. After each day’s work, it is mandatory one observes the rest routine to regain lost energy due to previous work done.
- Talking while eating: This is as dangerous as attempting suffocation. During eating and swallowing, the fleshy flap at the back of the mouth overlapping the trachea closes so as to disallow unwanted dropping of food particles into the air pipe (trachea). However, if one is eating and talking at same time, it could permit food particles into the trachea, which is capable of causing serious injury or death in severe cases.
- Delaying Urination: This is capable of damaging the bladder over continuous unhealthy practice. Once you feel the push of urine respond immediately.
- Excessive Shouting: This can cause stress in the vocal cord and hence, impede smooth speech afterwards. If not managed, it could lead to voice loss or mumbling voice tone. Endeavour to speak at affordably moderate tone which puts no pressure on the vocal cord.
