Divorce cases on the rise in China

Supreme People’s Court in China said Monday that courts entertained at least 1.4 million divorce cases in 2016.A senior official, Du Wanhua, at a conference offered that “Apart from those applied for in court, 3.46 million Chinese couples divorced in civil affairs offices in 2016.”Du made it obvious that there is need for court officials to study sociology and psychology to better intervene family disputes, as nearly 10 million people were openly affected while above 50 million people, including children and close relatives were also affected.A total of 3.15 million couples separated in civil affairs offices in 2015 and 2.96 million couples in 2014.
