The Dream that is…Tottenham Hotspur FC

Calm down Arsenal fans, I’m not jumping ship…at least not yet (you never know, they might just make me an offer after this…lol). But in this life, you have to just give credit, especially when it is totally due, and for today, I’m going to be giving loads of credit to Tottenham simply because they deserve it (and I can’t give any to Arsenal at the moment so…there you go).4-0 against Watford, and 4-0 against Bournemouth; both games starting and finishing with a bang (literally…take a look at that Alli’s goal against Watford…unbelievable). After the final whistle went off against Bournemouth, I did what I have NEVER done after watching a Spurs game: I (Christ, I’m so ashamed) gave…them…a…round…of…applause. No, not an applause…I gave them a Standing Ovation.Just think about it for a second, they are playing some amazing stuff at the moment. Fearless, confidence and full of energy; it’s basically all you need to have your talent shine through the games nowadays and Spurs have those attributes in abundance. They played so well this last weekend that even both Dembele and Janssen got goals (Janssen looked more of a goalscorer than Josh King, who is a pretty good goalscorer).I don’t want to get into the stats behind their amazing run (which is 7 EPL wins in a row- the longest winning run in 50 years) but I want to look at some factors that have played their part. These factors will definitely be vital if Spurs are to achieve the dream of being England’s finest come 2018 (or 2019 or 2020…listen, at some point, they’re going to get there so don’t be a prick).First off is the manager. Pochettino and Spurs were made for each other. A talented coach, determined to build (from scratch) what is a competitive and ambitious squad, was employed by a club in need of a proper building process. Credit to the club for giving the time needed. I’m sure they’ll soon start reaping the rewards.Next up is the club’s business. I’m not talking about the transfers…rather, I’m talking about the tying down of key players to long-term contracts. Kane, Eriksen, Alli, Walker, Rose, Winks etc. are all on long-term contracts (signed recently). This means everyone is down for the project and commitment is guaranteed. Oh how I wish Wenger was this proactive.The emergence of Alli (their best signing since Van De Vaart) is remarkable. Add that to the ever-improving Son, Kane, Walker, and Rose. Throw in the steel of Wanyama and Dembele and you have a solid foundation of a trophy-winning side. All that is left is the right amount of experience, and this group would have gained a lot in the last 2 seasons.The style of play deserves a mention. Relentless running, sharp movements to match their intelligent footwork. Goals are a sure bet with that combination, and when you can score goals like they do, wins won’t be hard to come by.They remind me of Arsenal in the early 2000s. A building process that produced one of the greatest sides ever to grace the EPL. Sadly, Wenger can’t repeat the trick, leaving us deprived of good football from London (no Chelsea… there’s a difference between you and good football). Well, at least one club from London is taking the initiative. Let’s try and enjoy it (unless it’s a North London Derby…you can do what you want then).Later.by Soccerchaterbox
