Education, Biggest Gift for Children-Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has disclosed that free education is the best gift any child can receive. This, he said, would help children fulfil their dreams. Okorocha stated this at the 7th convocation ceremony of the Imo State University in Owerri, the state capital, even as he added that his government remains committed to the free education programme which has benefitted many families. The first citizen of Imo charged Nigerian universities to invest more in vocational and skill acquisition programmes that will produce graduates that will be the employers of labour rather than job seekers. The overall best graduating student, Chigozie Ekenze from the Optometry Department was rewarded with the sum of N2 million, a scholarship abroad for postgraduate studies and an instant appointment as a lecturer at the Imo State University; all expenses paid by the governor.
