EFCC unblocks Fayose’s accounts, governor withdraws money

The Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose stormed the Zenith Bank branch in Ado-Ekiti to withdraw from his bank account which was frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

This followed an order given by the Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti to unblock the governor’s frozen account by the EFCC.Judge Taiwo Taiwo, the judge presiding over the case said that the governor enjoyed immunity and therefore no measure should be taken against him.Fayose’s accounts were frozen in June on allegations that he had received money from a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, who is currently prosecuted over arms purchase scandal.On Thursday afternoon, images were released by the governor’s media assistant, Lere Olayinka showing that the governor had been to the bank to withdraw a total sum of N5 million.According to Premium Times, Wilson Uwujaren, the commission’s spokesman however did not respond to a request for comment on Thursday afternoon.
