Federal Government embarks on plans to build nuclear plants

The Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu has revealed the plans of the federal government to build nuclear plants in the country and also apply it to meet the needs of the country. This was disclosed at an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at Abuja.

He said that the nuclear energy would bridge the energy gap needed to improve agriculture, health, education and also manufacturing in the country.He also stated that plans were being made by the federal government with the Russian State Nuclear Corporation, Rosatom to bring to life the dream of nuclear energy application.According to the minister, Rosatom would prepare the agreement on the construction of a nuclear power plant in the country which will in turn prepare an agreement on the development of the project which would determine further steps on the construction of the nuclear power plant.Also, he said the project would be a success as the plant would be fed from the uranium deposits in the country.
