FG to Establish Fishing Cluster in Kebbi
By James Hughes
The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has revealed that plans are underway to unveil a Commercial Fishing Cluster to cater for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Kebbi State.
The Vice President said this at the launching of the National MSMEs Clinic and TraderMoni scheme in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
Osinbajo said that the cluster establishment is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve the business environment for MSMEs and will benefit over 9,000 businesses in the state.
According to him, “The commercial fishing cluster will be inaugurated next year (2020) in Kebbi, where over 9,000 MSMEs will benefit in the state.”
He said this is in line with the FG’s ‘Next Level’ project of establishing a minimum of one cluster in each state.
“We are trying to have 37 clusters across the nation. This will provide MSMEs the opportunities of working in an equipped cluster where they will have specific facilities for entering into the production of their products.
“The government will provide the equipment and all that to make it easy for them, because a small producer may not be able to buy the equipment they need,” he said.
