Findings Show Rise in Obesity Cases due to Poor Nutrition – Medical New Today

Latest Medical New Today statement shows cases of Obesity noticed in Nigeria are results of poor nutrition among the middle and lower class aside the fact that the disease was initially common with the rich.
Obesity is a situation which allows for the accumulation of excessive fat in the body, thereby posing a dangerous impact on health.
Herbal Pro Limited, whose core area is in finding herbal solutions to health problems stated that the increasing occurrence of obesity in Nigeria are attributable to poor diet and insufficient awareness.
It said obesity also has the potent link to increase cases of cardiovascular diseases, Type 2 diabetes, musculoskeletal disorder, breast cancer, colon and endometrial respectively.
Statistics reveals a 35% increase in the cases of obesity in Nigeria, 5% of which represents individuals in the higher social class. The report also affirmed that some of the features causing this change in trend are change in diet owing to high the cost of living, lack of sensitization about healthy living and lack of proper diagnostics and treatment centers.
The research added that persons bearing protruding bellies are at risk of heart-related ailments than those with a normal belly regardless of having a healthy weight.
