Former Argentina Military Ruler to Spend 20 Years in Jail

A former Argentine junta leader, Reynaldo Bignone, is to spend 20 years behind bars over crimes committed under Operation Condor ”“ a conspiracy between South America’s dictators in the 1970s. Bignone, alongside 14 other military officers, was found guilty by a court in Argentina after a three-year trial. It would be recalled that a lot of left-wing activists were kidnapped and killed in Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Bolivia at the time.
