FRSC commences full implementation of Speed Limiting Device

The Federal Road Safely Commission in Nigeria, FRSC, has commenced the full enforcement and implementation of the Speed Limiting Device on commercial vehicle in Nigeria.

The Corps Public Education Officer of the Commission, Mr Imoh Etuk stated this during an interview with Voice of Nigeria Correspondent in Abuja.Mr. Etuk said the Commission adopted the use of the Speed Limiting Device, to cut down road traffic accidents on the Nigeria highways.Sensitisation The FRSC Spokesman explained that about 48 percent of road accidents in Nigeria were cause by over speeding.“The FRSC before now, we have had series of consultations with relevant stakeholders, we stated the subtle enforcement, we had rallies on motor parks, we have done enough to sensitise the motoring public that the full enforcement has commenced,” he stated.Mr Etuk said that drivers who do note install the speed Limiting device would face mobile courts sessions, where they would be made to pay fines by the Magistrate.The FRSC’s Spokesman advised commercial vehicle owners   to avoid over loading, dangerous over taking, driving without seat belts, while reminding them that the whole essence of adopting the Speed Limiting device is to control the speed of vehicles.
