Germany Qualifies for Confederations Cup Final; Humiliates Mexico

The German machine has put the semi-final hurdle behind them, paving the way for a final match against Chile in the Confederations Cup after a 4-1 victory against the Mexican side on Thursday in Sochi.The Germans were put in the lead after Leon Goretzka scored twice in the opening eight minutes of the encounter.The Schalke midfielder found the net first from a Benjamin Henrichs pass, 20 yards away and later from Timo Werner’s effort. Werner put his name on the score sheet by hitting the net from Jonas Hector’s pass to boost Germany’s lead.For the Mexicans, Marco Fabian’s 35-yard strike got the South American fans a consolation, after which Amin Younes confirmed the Germany’s victory with a fourth goal.The Mexicans could have equaled the tally when it stood at 2-0, but for many chances lost in the game.Fabian wonder strike was not enough to unsettle the Germans but the match was one characterized by many lost chances and agitated struggles in the last minutes of the match. Germany will face Chile in Sunday’s final scheduled for St Petersburg while Mexico hopes to redeem its image in a third-place encounter with Portugal same day.
