By

Gov David Umahi of Ebonyi State declares his support for a united Nigeria equipped with justice, peace and love, adding that equity will succeed regardless of creed, ideology, ethnicity or gender. The governor’s opinion is that in spite of the many agitations, it appears the merits inherent in them could be given due attention in a discourse for possible solutions. In his position as Chairman of South-east Governors Forum, he charged Nigerians to allow peaceful and harmonious living with one another, emphasizing that all national issues in need of attention would be addressed to keep national cohesion intact. His word: “In every agitation, there may be some merits but such agitations could be discussed, dialogue and amicable settlement achieved. So we ask our people to please remain calm and be part of this our move to ensure that we don’t set our place on fire. Nobody will love our place more than ourselves. And it’s very important that we are wiser as we engage the leadership of this nation in a formidable dialogue to resolve all our differences.”The governor believes in the unity of the country and that, according to him could be achieved by deliberate actions capable of avoiding violence. He assured Nigerians that efforts of his colleagues in the South-east zone, the leadership of the Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohaneze Nidgbo, as well as other leaders in the country will help seek the resolution of all tensions experienced by the people. He dissuaded the citizens from engaging themselves in making inciting comments that could drift the country to confusion and division, The governor also called for a peaceful and united coexistence among all segments of the Nigerian society.Umahi therefore said it was high time the country let go of all hateful messages and adopt peace as a means to development.
