Herdsmen Killings: Cleric Wants FG to Declare State of Emergency

By Correspondent

Following the rampant attacks and alleged killings by herdsmen in parts of the country, Most Reverend Samuel Abidoye, the spiritual father of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church worldwide, has called on the federal government to declare a state of emergency. He made this known while speaking with newsmen in Orile Igbon yesterday. Abioye said the incessant attack on farmers by herdsmen in their farms is a new frightening dimension. He further wants the security agencies to swing into action in order to calm nerves in the affected areas to avoid reprisal attacks. Abioye maintained that joblessness among the youths is the reason for the high rate of kidnapping and urged President Muhammadu Buhari to put in place measures to curb the trend and initiate policies to create jobs for the unemployed. He said, “With few weeks to the first anniversary of the present administration, Nigerians have not felt the impact of the much-touted change mantra. There is poverty in the land. Nigerians have been groaning under epileptic power supply, fuel scarcity and harsh economic climate. There is urgent need for President Buhari to address the impact of hardship on Nigerians.” The cleric also advised Nigerians to be patient with the government on delivery of campaign promises.
