Ibinabo Returns to Prison

By Correspondent

Convicted actress Ibinabo Fiberesima, was not granted bail from the Lagos division of the Court of Appeal owing to what the court described as incompetent application. It would be recalled that the appellate court had convicted her of Murder on March 11, 2016. In their declaration, the three-man panel presided over by Justice UI Ndukwe-Anyanwu, insisted that Fiberesima failed to attach copies of the judgment that was delivered by the court which affirmed the five years’ jail sentence imposed on her. The other Justices on the panel were Justice Samuel Oseji and Justice Tijani Abubakar. At Thursday’s sitting on the matter, Ibinabo’s lawyer, Nnaemeka Amaechina notified the appellate court of an application dated March 14, wherein he stated that he had also served the application on the Lagos State government (respondent). But the said application could not be heard as the panel made an observation that the beauty queen failed to attach copies of the judgment of the court as an exhibit thereby rendering the whole application incompetent. The Appeal Court stated that the only option left was to strike out the application or adjourn same until the further date for the hearing. In the circumstance, Amaechina prayed for an adjournment to enable him to do the needful. The matter was adjourned till April 7 for hearing.
