Illegal Detention: SAN Files N2.5b Suit Against EFCC

Not up to 24 hours after he was given an administrative bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), at its Lagos office, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Rickey Tarfa, in the company of 32 other SANs, led by former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Wole Olanipekun, instituted a suit against EFCC at the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos. Tarfa is praying the court, to compel the EFCC and its Acting-Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, to pay him a damage sum to the tune of N2.5 billion over what he termed illegal arrest and detention.
