Interpol reveals traffickers swallow condoms filled with liquid cocaine to evade arrest

Interpol has recently found traffickers, mainly from West Africa and Asia Pacific swallowing condoms filled with liquid cocaine to beat the conventional inspection systems.It was observed by the Singapore office of the Interpol that methamphetamine is the major most trafficked substance in the region and underlined the rising cases in a report in May during an international anti-drug operation.The campaign, which was tagged Operation Lionfish ”“ ASEAN, included not less than 2,000 police and customs officials in 14 countries, as stated in the official report from the Interpol Global Complex in Singapore.It was revealed that it is focusing on drug trafficking through airports, meanwhile, a second phase will include land and sea ports.According to the report, the operations “revealed a network of West African and Asian organised crime groups behind trafficking in methamphetamine ”” one of the most smuggled drugs in the region”.There were about 59 seizures recorded in two-week period and almost a quarter of the drugs intercepted was methamphetamine, 80 percent of which was preserved in crystalline form commonly known as “ice”.Other seized drugs were Cocaine, cannabis, heroin and amphetamine stimulants adding that the smugglers were attempting more creative means.The Interpol also noticed that the United Arab Emirates has found a rising wave of trafficking of liquid cocaine.“Smugglers would swallow condoms packed with liquid cocaine,” the report confirmed saying further that this kind of concealment if difficult to find out with the use of conventional device like X-rays.Interpol also confirmed it has found a “cocaine trafficking route via Ethiopia to destinations in the Middle East, Asia and Pacific”.
