Iran parliament: Hostages held, separate blast at Khomeini mausoleum

Iranian, capital of Tehran have been hit by multiple attack, as reported to the state mediaAn attacker entered the building, and at least three people have been injured.  The Hostage has been detained in the Iranian parliament as reported to the state run press TV.At Ayatollah Khomeini Mausoleum, South West of the city, a woman was apprehended after two people were injured by a bomb attack and shooting spree as reported by news agency.Terrorist attacks in Iran are not common, particularly in the restrained capital where tourist and government sites are tightly policed.Symbolic attackMajlis or Islamic Consultative Assembly which can also be referred to as Iran’s parliament which consist 290 members; female members and has representatives for religious minorities including Christians, Zoroastrians and Jews.How the attacker gained access into the parliament is not yet clear as the parliament is well guarded with multiple security checkpoints.The right to own a gun is controlled in Iran, which shows that the attacker must have smuggled in the weapon into the country.Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini is the Islamic Republic’s founder and first supreme leader and has been Iran leader for 10 years. He led the revolt that dethrones the Shah in 1979. The mausoleum is located around 25 kilometers (15 miles) from the parliament.Terrorism rareIran has been engaged in military attack against Sunni terrorist groups such as ISIS, who regards Shiites as dissenter. The government stated that the biggest plot of the terror group aiming Tehran and other major cities during the month of Ramadan last year was frustrated.In 2010 there was a major attack in Iran where suicide attack was carried out by a Sunni extremist group against a mosque in Sistan-Baluchistan killing 39 people. A small scale attack has been plotted against Iranian security force by the Kurdish group in the north- west of Iran.
