Shooting Stars Football Club of Ibadan, has appointed Kadiri Ikhana as its new coach. The team’s former manager, Gbenga Ogunbote, left the Oluyole Warriors after leading them to a ninth place finish in the Nigeria top flight. Consequently, 3SC have now turned to Ikhana, whose contract was terminated by Nigeria Professional Football League Champions Enyimba, after leading them to a record seventh title. “He [Ikhana] has been appointed as the Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars today and he has started work immediately and he will be introduced to the players this afternoon,” media officer Jubril Arowolo confirmed to reporters. “Someone has to take over from Ogunbote and of all the candidates that applied for the job, he came out on top. “Aside from this, he boasts of a very great pedigree, having led Enyimba to win the CAF Champions League as well as several league titles. “If Ogunbote could lead the team to a ninth place finish last season, then we expect more from him to justify his credentials. So, we hope at the end of the season, he helps the club get a ticket to play in any of the CAF competitions,” he concluded. 3SC begin their NPFL campaign on February 21 against Lobi Stars at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
