Major Bank Robbery Foiled at Rivers State, 3 suspects arrested

The Rivers State Police Command has announced that its officials had foiled a major bank robbery in Port Harcourt. This was revealed by the spokesman of the Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni when he paraded some of the suspects caught in the act.

In an interview with some journalists, Omoni said a tip-off alerted the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and regular policemen of Rumuolumeni Police Station to bombard a new generation bank at Eagle Cement to arrest the hoodlums.He said the hoodlums opened fire on the police officers led by Divisional Police Officer, Felix Nnebue.The three suspects were arrested while trying to use a gas cylinder to gain access into the bank entrance.The suspects arrested were Samuel Nwara, 28 years, Kaaly Taagaba, 28 years and also Lucky Ukwuoma, 26 years.It was gathered that a SARS operative sustained a gunshot wound during the attack but he is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.Items recovered from the suspects include: one cooking gas cylinder, one handsaw, one chisel and two Ghana must go bags.Omoni also added that the suspects were assisting the police in their investigation so as to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.Commissioner of Police, CP Francis M. Odesanya has assured the state that the Police Command would be relentlessly in attacking all sorts of crime.
