By
French Open semi-final match involving current champion, Novak Djokovic and nine-time winner, Rafael Nadal is scheduled for Friday.
Nadal’s win at Roland Garros will push his title haul to 10 while Djokovic’s would enable him extend his reign, having secured his major title under a new coach, Andre Agassi.
Andy Murray, who is world number one would play 2015 champion Stan Wawrinka in the last four.
Murray faces Russia’s Andrey Kuznetsov and Djokovic meets Spanish clay player, Marcel Granollers while Nadal contends with daring Frenchman Benoit Paire.
All things being equal, 2016 runner-up Murray, currently nursing an illness, has Japan’s Kei Nishikori to beat in the last eight.
In the other quarter-finals, Wawrinka plays 2014 US Open winner, Marin Cilic, while Nadal will slug it out with Canada’s Milos Raonic, leaving Djokovic to Dominic Thiem to decide who’s better.
Djokovic beat Austrian Thiem to recover his loss in the Rome Masters semi-final the previous week.
Nadal has already hit the expected 10 titles at claycourt events in Monte Carlo and Barcelona.
He has also won Madrid for the fifth time, bidding bye to a seven-match consecutive loss, including against Djokovic for more than two years.
Nadal now has an amazing personal best career at Roland Garros with 72 wins and two losses, one to Djokovic in 2015 and another to Robin Soderling in an injury-influenced loss in 2009.
