NAFDAC Incorporates e-Licenses for Importers, Freight Forwarders

By James Hughes

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has revealed that electronic licenses will be used for the processing of import transactions on the National Single Window for trade.

The agency said that through the e-license, every transaction that involves freight forwarders, customs licenses and permits will be carried out on their portal.

According to NAFDAC, “This is to inform importers, freight forwarders, Customs licensed agents, port stakeholders, authorised dealer banks and the general public that NAFDAC has completed the integration of electronic NAFDAC licenses for the processing of import transactions on the National Single Window for Trade.

“NAFDAC import licenses consisting of approvals, certificates, and permits which are now in electronic formats shall be auto verifiable on the NAFDAC Single Window for Trade Portal.

“As such all NAFDAC licenses will no longer be attached as scanned copies on the Single Window portal for the processing of Form M in import trade.”

The agency also revealed that for the processing of FORM M for NAFDAC regulated products, clients would have to input their reference code which is stated on their NAFDAC e-licenses.

The e-licenses will take effect this month as the ‘Go-Live’ date is September 9.
