NASS Passes 2016 Budget

NASS Passes 2016 Budget

By Correspondent

The 2016 budget, presented to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari has been passed into law. The National Assembly passed a total budget of N6.06 trillion sequel to a motion by the Chairman, Joint Committee on Appropriations, Senator Danjuma Goje, and seconded by Senator Andy Uba. The budget was reduced by N17 billion. While the President proposed a budget of N6.07 trillion, the National Assembly slashed it to N6.06trillion. It would be recalled that the 2016 budget had been characterised by an accusation of padding which delayed its passage. In passing the budget, the National Assembly expressed sadness that the budget was not presented on time, and charged the Federal Government (FG) to submit subsequent budgets in strict compliance with the Fiscal Policy Act.
