Newly Constructed Power Plant to have 700 Megawatts added to it

The Federal Government has announced that 700 megawatts of electricity would be added to the Zungeru Power Plant when completed.

This was announced by the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola in a statement issued by the Deputy Director, Press of the ministry, Etore Thomas.Director of Energy Resources, Emmanuel Ajayi who represented the minister made the disclosure at the project site, Zungeru, Niger State.According to Fashola, the project was been carried out by major Chinese companies and plans to be one of the biggest hydro power projects in the company.He commended the efforts of the partners involved in the execution of the project and urged the host communities to maintain peace and order.He also said modalities have been set in place to compensate persons affected by the ongoing project in terms of resettlement.The Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Bello, represented by the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Abdulmalik Cheche commended the federal government for establishing another power project in the state which has created over 5,000 employment opportunities.
