The Nigerian government is committed to restoring normalcy to the lives of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in North East.
 The Nigerian government has appreciated the collaboration of the UN for their assistance in the Northeast region.

It is working to help children in the IDP camps, especially in the area of education and housing.Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo said this, when the Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme,, WFP, Ms. Ertharin Cousin, visited him in Abuja.“We are working on how people can get back to their normal lives,” Osinbajo stated.Improving lives Professor Osinbajo said that many people were in need and facing tough challenge, but assured that government was working diligently to tackle the problem.He appreciated the collaboration of international agencies like the United Nations in its efforts in tackling terrorism.The Vice President said the Nigerian government would continue to secure the places where peace had been restored, as dealing with the security challenges is an ongoing task.He appreciated the visit of the Ms Cousin and her delegation and acknowledged the agency’s assistance in the Northeast region, especially regarding children and families.Professor Osinbajo pledged more cooperation from the government.Ms Cousin briefed Professor Osinbajo on the activities of the agency in Nigeria and to extend the greetings of the Secretary General of the UN to the government for the support WFP is enjoying in Nigeria.“Since the establishment of a inter-ministerial committee, which the Vice President coordinated, there has been a significant improvement in the implementation of the UN agency’s work in providing assistance in the Northeast,” Ms Cousin said.
