NIPR Admits 113 New Members

By Correspondent

After rigorous screening, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has admitted 113 new members. The new members were chosen from over 300 applications submitted to the institute last year. Speaking at the induction, the Vice-President/Vice-Chairman of Council of NIPR, Mr. Mukhar Z. Sirajo, declared that machinery have been put in place, in conjunction with law enforcement agencies, to rid the profession of quacks. He admonished the inductees to make good their watchword in the discharge of their official duties. In his remark, the President/Vice-Chairman of the Council of NIPR, Dr. Rotimi Oladele, called on the inductees to ensure that they project the positive image of the Institute and that of Nigeria. The president who led the inductees to take the oath of office, enjoined PR practitioners in the country to start including their membership number in every official correspondence. The induction, which took place at the NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja was preceded by an annual lecture delivered by Dr. Chris Osuji. The lecture with the theme, ”˜Effective Communication as a Change Agent in Restoring Nigeria’s Global Image’, was instituted in honour of the first President of the institute, Sam Epelle. The guest lecturer affirmed that PR practitioners are better positioned to rebrand Nigeria’s image around the world.
