NSCDC Suspends Officers for an Alleged Oil Theft

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken punitive measures against two of its officers for an alleged oil theft in Bayelsa.Corps sp”Žokesman, Mr Emmanuel Okeh, revealed the incident when he offered an interview to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Friday in the FCT Abuja.Okeh remarked that the Corps management berated the involvement of the two officers, recently arrested and presented to the media by the police, for the alleged possession of illegal petroleum products believed to be diesel (AGO).According to him, the”Ž ”ŽCommandant-General of the Corps, Mr Abdullahi Muhammadu, had constituted a panel of inquiry to ascertain the next line of action in tandem with the public service rules.The concerned officers, Assistant Superintendent of Corps (ASCI) Agah Utavie, and Assistant Superintendent of Corps (ASCII) Angel Kilosomewo, ”Žare currently serving their suspension term until due investigation is concluded.”ŽHe further said the Commandant-General of the Corps, Abdullahi Muhammadu, had issued warning to officers and men of the Corps to refrain from similar act or risk facing legal action.The two culprits were presented to the media by the police on March 23 for allegedly involving in supposed illegally refined diesel in Otuasegha area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa.The spokesman of the Police Force, CSP Jimoh Moshood, had commented that the culprits were arrested by the Special Task Force constituted by the Inspector-General of Police on March 7. ”ŽMoshood said the police investigation team is waiting their response on the outcome of the investigation before the suspects would be arraigned in court.
