Nsukka records another string of cult attacks

Suspected cultists have killed a student named Joseph Emmanuel of the Department of Political Science in one of the South-Eastern universities. Media reports had it that the murder incidence was carried out at his off campus residence.About 3 suspected cultists wielding guns and machetes attacked the victim who was with his friends at home.The late Joseph was allegedly beaten and cut with machete several times before he was finally shot twice in the head. A friend of the deceased at the scene reportedly escaped with injuries.Emmanuel was rushed to an undisclosed medical centre and later referred to Bishop Shanahan Hospital in Nsukka, where he was declared dead.One of the friends of the deceased lamented that the incident as ill-fated and one which should not have happened to a friend who introduced him to the Ponzi scheme, MMM.“It is quite sad. I have known him for quite some time now. In fact, he was the one that even introduced me to MMM. I do not know what could have led to this.” The friend said.Answering questions from reporters, about the kind of person his friend was he said he lived an extravagant life but was also social.One Mark, who resides in the area, suspected the murder could be a revenge from a rival cult group.“Last Sunday, they shot somebody at that gate over there (pointing). This may be a revenge mission.” He concluded.Police Public Relations Officer in Enugu State, SP Ebere Amaraizu, established the fact of the incident, saying that investigations are underway to hunt down the suspects.
