Nutritionist calls for 80% alkaline, 20% acidic food content intake

A nutritionist, Mrs Priscilla Orji encouraged people to take 80 per cent of food with alkaline content and 20 per cent of food containing acidic content.Orji said this in Jos Monday when he was speaking with reporters that fruits and vegetables were alkaline in nature, whereas other foods were acidic.She said those who eat fruits and vegetables do so but not in the appropriate amount.Orji asked: “We have fruits and vegetables available, but how many of us can sustain the proportion we are supposed to be taking?”However, she counseled Nigerians to cultivate the practice of adding food supplements to make for the 80 per cent alkaline requirement.According to her, those who cultivate the practice of taking 80 per cent of fruits and vegetables are usually healthy, because it helps in improving their immune system and cleanse the body of free radicals that could cause cancers.Same action also helps the system become oxygenated and where oxygen exists, no disease can flourish there.Her recommendation included taking the right amount of food supplements with organic content which are benefitting to the body unlike the inorganic ones. Orji noted that balancing the proportion of alkaline to acidic content ratio is the major aim of practicing such act.
